Action Needed! Utah Parents Want Better Sex Education
This morning, the vocal minority against sex education in our schools took over the Utah State Board of Education meeting to complain about teachers being able to answer questions from students with medically accurate information. The cluster of special interest groups (a.k.a the anti sex education lobby) told board members that parents don’t want teachers to answer questions that come up during health classes— claiming that parents want teachers to send the student home to find the answer. They object to the current teacher’s guide you can view here.
The truth is that parents in Utah do want their children to participate in age appropriate sex education classes and have questions answered. The Utah State Board of Education needs to hear from parents!
If you have students in the public school system, please take 5-10 minutes and submit comment to the State Board to remind them that parents want their kids to get good, medically accurate information at school. Submitting comment is as easy as an email to email@example.com.
You can watch public comments starting at approximately marker 2:44:00; you’ll see it’s the usual extremist suspects who claim to know what Utah parents want. Please let the State School Board know what most parents in Utah really want for their students. Be sure toidentify yourself as a parent (not with Planned Parenthood) and which school district your kids are in. It doesn’t need to be long, but rather short and to the point in your own words.
