Earn your stripes–and some patches!

How to Earn Your Patches

Staring summer of 2018, Planned Parenthood Action Council of Utah will be asking The Birds and The Beehive to collect (super cool) patches by participating in community- and movement-building actions.

Each unique-to-Utah patch represents a value of our Hive. These values include loving our neighbors, embracing diversity, and standing with policy makers who are Pro-families, Pro-safe sex, and Pro-reproductive justice.

Supporters can earn patches for taking actions like joining Planned Parenthood at community activities, swinging by our booth at an event, or supporting policy makers who support the Hive.

Those who collect four patches will receive their an additional prize after November’s election.

Planned Parenthood Ambassadors who are part of The Birds and The Beehive will be the first to know about the release of new patches–and will be given instructions on how to earn each patch. Sign up to be an Ambassador here (psst: you’ll get an extra patch in the mail if you sign up!).

Check back often for new patches. Take action. Earn patches. Sew or iron the patches onto your denim jacket or tote bag. Snap a picture of your collection. Post your photo on social media using #birdsandthebeehive.

The Birds and the Beehive Patch

The Birds and the Beehive is a community that encourages inclusive discussion about sexual health issues unique to Utah. If someone threatens the health of the hive, we fight back together. Earn this patch by signing up to be an Ambassador.

Hive Pride Patch

The Birds and the Beehive proudly stands up for the rights of LGBTQ+ Utahns. We should all be free to love who we love. Visit the Planned Parenthood booth at one of Utah’s many Pride festivals–from Logan to St. George–to claim this badge.

Stand Up for the Hive Patch

Laughing keeps us grounded and energized in our fight for reproductive justice. Collect this patch by attending One Night Stand: an evening of comedy to benefit Planned Parenthood and Art Access on Thursday, September 20th.

Local Organic Utahn Patch

PPAC of Utah frames our outreach work in reproductive freedom–and reproductive freedom means having access to fresh, nutritious foods that keep your family healthy. Visit the Planned Parenthood booth at the 9th West Farmers Market at Jordan Park on Sept. 9th or Downtown SLC Farmer’s Market on Sept. 22 and Sept. 29th to collect this patch.

Hear Us Buzzzzzz Patch

We need to elect lawmakers who will stand up for what the Beehive knows is right: unrestricted access to health care and education. Pledge to vote, sign-up to phone bank, or canvass with PPAC-endorsed candidates to earn this special, metallic-threaded badge (yep, there’s gold throughout the design!).

Sting Like a Bee Patch

Join Planned Parenthood Action Council at our first ever electoral bootcamp: Beehive Bootcamp to earn this badge. The all-day camp will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8th in Salt Lake City and will educate and motivate our hive; participants will have the opportunity to meet local candidates, our staff, and fellow reproductive freedom fighters. More information on how to participate remotely to come!
