New Legislation Released
This week Representative Brian King released a fantastic new piece of legislation — H.B. 246 or Reproductive Health Amendments. The bill makes a number of changes to current statute including:
- Promoting a healthier Utah through critical health care coverage for low-income women and men who fall into the Medicaid coverage gap,
- Allows parents to “opt in” for more comprehensive sex education for their children in health classes at school, and
- Teaches essential life-skills like consent and how to respond safely and effectively in situations where sexual or physical violence may be occurring.
H.B. 246 is in the legislative Rules Committee waiting to be assigned to a Standing Committee for a hearing. We will need your help contacting committee members to let them know you support H.B. 246, so stay tuned!
