In other news, HB 166 passed out of the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday afternoon and is on the calendar for a full floor vote early next week. You can read Planned Parenthood’s fact sheet on HB 166 here. Email your representative this weekend and ask them to Vote No on HB 166. As you know, the Utah Legislature is working to roll back access to safe and legal abortion through two different abortion bans. Representative Acton’s 15-week ban or HB 136 is being held in House Rules for now but we expect it to come out soon. Stay tuned for an action alert as soon as HB 136 is on the agenda for a hearing.
For some good news—Representative Hollins’ HJR8 Proposal to Amend Utah Constitution – Slavery and Involuntary Servitude Prohibition is set for a vote in the House on Monday morning at 11:30 am. It is looking like she is going to get the resolution passed and handed off to the Lt. Governor’s Office. Read more about Representative Hollins plan here and make sure to thank her!
